About The Position

We need a game-changer! Frima is looking for a Senior UI Designer to join a UI team on one of our latest projects. We’re Frima, a video game development studio based in Quebec City and Montreal for over 20 years. We bring together hundreds of passionate talents, united by a single ambition: to craft unforgettable games across every platform.

Requirements

  • College degree in graphic design, visual arts, multimedia, or any other relevant field
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in designing interfaces for video games
  • Expertise in UI Art to design interfaces that are attractive, functional, and aligned with the project’s artistic direction
  • Knowledge of user/machine interaction (ergonomics)
  • Mentoring skills
  • Excellent level of French and English (written and spoken). English skills are required to perform the job, as we collaborate with English-speaking partners.
  • Portfolio and/or demo required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the UI Art expert on the project, both internally and with external partners
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and evolution of the visual direction for the project’s user interfaces
  • Illustrate and design video game interface elements
  • Conduct visual research
  • Sketch, conceptualize, and implement interfaces
  • Participate in defining a game’s visual style
  • Develop navigation diagrams (flowcharts)
  • Assemble and initially integrate designs into Unity game engines
  • Document process workflows for the production team or the client
  • Support UI designers by providing guidance and sharing best practices in UI Art
  • Contributing to the evolution of the tools, templates, and work methods used in UI within the studio
  • Participating in project retrospectives and drawing lessons to improve future UI processes
