About The Position

The Senior Trust Real Estate Asset Manager is responsible for managing a complex portfolio of real estate assets held in fiduciary accounts, including commercial, residential, agricultural and others. The role is an integral member of Huntington’s Private Bank which at its cornerstone is a client advisor culture within a team-oriented environment. The role provides leadership and guidance on the prudency of maintaining real estate within a portfolio based on the account investment objectives, and preemptively identify potential issues, such as low account liquidity that might necessitate selling real estate or environmental hazards. Candidates must exhibit strong fiduciary judgment, strategic decision-making abilities, sophisticated negotiation skills, expertise in identifying and managing risk, and a client-centric approach to service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Accounting, Finance, General Business, Management or Real Estate major preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in real estate or asset management.

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with advanced quantitative, valuation, and problem-solving capabilities applied to complex real estate and fiduciary asset management matters.
  • Advanced financial modeling and investment analysis expertise, including extensive proficiency in Excel for cash flow forecasting, scenario analysis, and portfolio management.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders, present recommendations, interact with clients, senior leadership, and external partners.
  • Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation preferred.
  • Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology platforms used to support asset management, portfolio reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight for a diverse portfolio of trust-held real estate assets, ensuring alignment with fiduciary obligations, client and account investment objectives, and organizational goals.
  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert on trust real estate matters, providing guidance and recommendations to senior management, fiduciary committees, trust officers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing activities, financing arrangements, development projects, and property restructurings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, fiduciary standards, internal policies, and trust-specific governing documents.
  • Direct property valuation, financial analysis, market assessments, and due diligence activities to support strategic decision-making and risk management.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal, operational, environmental, financial, and reputational risks associated with trust-owned real estate assets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, co-fiduciaries, beneficiaries, attorneys, appraisers, brokers, property managers, and other external partners.
  • Lead negotiations involving real estate transactions, vendor contracts, lease agreements, and other matters impacting trust-held assets.
  • Prepare and present complex portfolio analyses, asset performance reports, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, trust committees, and other governance groups.
