About The Position

As an essential member of CIBC Private Wealth, the Senior Trust & Estate Consultant (STEC) works in a team environment to provide estate and trust solutions to CIBC clients. You will be responsible for business development and the delivery of estate and trust services in your assigned region, working with internal partners and external centres of influence to service and pro-actively grow our estate and trust business, while providing clients with holistic estate planning. Requirements

  • Industry experience.
  • Proven experience in sales and business development.
  • Knowledge of the administration of estates, trust and powers of attorney/guardianship.
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations pertaining to the administration of estates and trusts.
  • 5+ years of experience in the estate and trust or financial services industry.
  • Post-secondary degree.
  • Relevant professional accreditations such as the Member, Trust Institute (MTI), and/or Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP).
  • Well-developed sales, interpersonal, communication presentation and relationship management skills sufficient to build strong relationships with clients and to identify partnership opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success to build and maintain high value client relationships.
  • Good judgement to manage individual, company and client risk while exercising discretion.
  • Able to balance multiple priorities while meeting critical timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Close sufficient new business to meet sales targets for agency and fiduciary appointments.
  • Pro-actively build partnerships with local representatives of Private Wealth Management, Wood Gundy, Imperial Service and with local centers of influence, lawyers, and accountants.
  • Create and implement a regional plan for sourcing business and raising awareness of CIBC Trust products.
  • Assess new business opportunities, gather all required information, identify potential risks and provide mitigation strategies.
  • Pro-actively refer beneficiaries to CIBC partners in order to keep funds within CIBC.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly reporting on business development activities.
  • Work with CIBC Trust partners to ensure the smooth onboarding of new clients.
  • Deliver Trust & Estate services within your assigned region.
  • Provide trust training sessions to target partner audiences and participate in client seminars.
  • Keep abreast of Trust & Estate legislative changes, jurisprudence, and shifting industry trends in order to effectively provide the best solutions to our clients.
