About The Position

The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is expanding its Transportation Team in Michigan and is looking for a Senior Transportation Project Manager to lead roadway and utility design projects in a fully 3D digital environment. This role involves supervisory responsibilities, overseeing a team of seven designers in the Detroit office, and offers significant opportunities for professional growth and advancement. The position combines technical expertise with team leadership to deliver high-quality transportation and utility projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• 12-15 years’ experience working with MDOT transportation and Local Agency
• Michigan PE with the ability to become registered in other states
• Knowledge of OpenRoads ORD design software is required
• Experience working as a PM
• Desire and ability to manage a team

Nice To Haves

• AutoCAD/Civil3D is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of roadway design plans and 3D models for local agency projects
• Perform and review design calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Prepare design packages for milestone client submittments, including estimates, special provisions, and RID packages
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team
• Support MDOT projects as needed, applying similar expertise and leadership
• Oversee and manage a team of seven designers, ensuring successful project delivery and professional development
