About The Position

The Senior Transportation Manager will oversee all daily transportation activities and the local product donation process as well as inbound receiving processes. This includes leading the team in scheduling daily work assignments, cross-training employees and developing staff. This position supervises all staff who work in transportation and receiving. This manager will direct all aspects of transportation and receiving, including but not limited to supervision of departmental staff, departmental budgets, equipment acquisition and necessary reports, etc. Effective communication is vital to this role, which serves as a liaison with other departments in the coordination of all transportation and receiving activity. This manager will ensure appropriate compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and ensure that all food safety requirements are complete and kept up on. The Senior Transportation Manager is responsible for controlling all transportation equipment including vehicle maintenance and acquisition of trucks, trailers, and other needed vehicles. Other aspects of the job: Oversee the utilization of technology within the department to maximize effectiveness and efficiency Demonstrate a dedication to the mission and values of Harvesters. This position functions in an office and warehouse environment and requires travel within the service area and possibly bi-state and national travel. It requires the use of general office equipment such as telephones, computers, adding machines, calculators, fax and copiers and extensive walking across the warehouse and back and forth to the office. Incumbent will spend 25% of the time in a warehouse environment, 35% of the time stationery working at a computer terminal and 40% of the time talking on the telephone. This position requires an understanding of all Harvesters food safety policies and compliance with all food safety related procedures.

Requirements

  • 4 years in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations regarding commercial fleet management
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Digital literacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • BS/BA or Equivalent of a minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, and management of fleet operations.
  • Understanding of all Harvesters food safety policies and compliance with all food safety related procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL licensed truck driver
  • 7 years in supervisory role
  • 7 years of transportation and fleet management experience in a food industry setting
