The successful candidate will lead transportation, bridge, and highway infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey while developing strong relationships with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), county engineering departments, municipal agencies, and other public-sector clients. This individual will serve as Project Manager on major transportation infrastructure assignments and provide Design Management leadership for alternative delivery projects. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical leadership, client engagement, and business development while helping expand FPA’s transportation practice across state, county, and municipal markets. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New Jersey PE license preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in transportation, bridge, structural, or related infrastructure engineering.
Demonstrated experience managing complex transportation and/or bridge projects from design through construction.
Experience with bridge rehabilitation, bridge replacement, roadway improvements, and/or transportation infrastructure projects preferred.
Proficiency with structural and transportation design software; experience with LEAP Bridge, LARSA, MIDAS, CSiBridge, STAAD, or similar platforms preferred.
Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality control, and risk management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor engineers and provide technical direction.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
Experience with proposal development, client presentations, and business development initiatives preferred.

Nice To Haves

Strong knowledge of NJDOT design standards, AASHTO requirements, and applicable transportation and structural engineering standards.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage complex transportation and infrastructure projects from planning and concept development through final design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.
Manage projects involving bridge rehabilitation and replacement, roadway and highway improvements, transportation infrastructure, and related municipal improvements.
Lead multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating the efforts of bridge, roadway, traffic, geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and other technical professionals.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships with NJDOT, counties, municipalities, and other transportation agencies.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality control, and client expectations to ensure successful project delivery.
Oversee the preparation and review of engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, calculations, and other project documentation.
Provide technical leadership and guidance on transportation and structural engineering solutions, design approaches, and project delivery strategies.
Coordinate design activities across disciplines and resolve technical issues to maintain project schedules and deliverables.
Ensure projects comply with applicable AASHTO, NJDOT, MUTCD, local agency, and other applicable standards, codes, and requirements.
Conduct site visits, field investigations, inspections, and structural assessments as needed.
Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional growth.
Participate in proposal development, scope and fee preparation, client presentations, interviews, and other business development initiatives.
Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and support the continued growth of the Transportation and Bridge practice.
