About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team in Oakland, CA: someone who is excited to lead impactful roadway and active transportation projects that reflect our mission and values. At no other firm will you be able to work alongside those involved in the authoring and implementation of numerous AASHTO, FHWA, and NCHRP documents, including the AASHTO Bike Guide, upcoming AASHTO Pedestrian Guide, and FHWA Guide for Achieving Multimodal Networks. Requirements

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license and/or California Transportation Engineer (TE) certification, or ability to obtain within six months (California PE license is a plus)
  • 8+ years of multimodal transportation project experience
  • Proven leadership of multi-discipline design and planning projects, delivering on time and on budget
  • Strong networks and relationships in the California transportation market, including with Caltrans, municipalities, or other consulting firms is a plus
  • Experience presenting projects and conveying technical details to a variety of audiences
  • The motivation to win work, including forming and managing client relationships, identifying potential opportunities, and developing proposals and interview materials
  • Fluency or a working knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead multimodal corridor studies, Vision Zero initiatives, Active Transportation Plans, Safe Routes to School projects, and other transportation planning and design efforts across California.
  • Guide projects from concept through implementation, mentor staff, build client relationships, support business development, and develop practical solutions that improve safety and mobility for people walking, biking, and taking transit.
  • Work alongside planners, engineers, urban designers, and landscape architects on projects ranging from systemwide planning and corridor studies to detailed design and implementation.
