About The Position

WSP is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Project Engineer to provide technical leadership and guidance for planning, design, and delivery of high-voltage overhead transmission line projects. The role may involve research, design, concept development, planning, client interactions, business and proposal development, construction support, and staff mentorship. It supports project development through disciplined engineering practices, coordination across multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to established quality and safety standards. The engineer leads and coordinates transmission project engineering, project schedules and workflows, client communications, project manager support, resource forecasting, and department initiatives. The position also leads project teams, contributes to client relationships and business planning, and supports technical development and recruitment. Travel to client offices, field locations, or vendor facilities may be needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience.
At least 10 years of relevant post-education experience in transmission engineering, managing projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Engineer license required; multi-state licensure preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
Understanding of the NESC, RUS, and/or GO-95.
Strong understanding of transmission line fundamentals and PLS-CADD operation.
Strong written and oral English communication skills for working effectively with internal team members and external clients.
Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite.
Proven record of upholding workplace safety and ability to comply with WSP health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute engineering for transmission projects up to 765 kV.
Lead or support initial project execution layout and establish an efficient project plan.
Create and maintain project schedules.
Conduct weekly or bi-weekly project meetings, identifying upcoming deliverables, tasks, and responsible personnel.
Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings.
Maintain project workflow and communication across internal and external multidisciplinary teams.
Forecast project requirements to support resource planning.
Facilitate and follow WSP quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Participate in internal and external industry conferences to support professional growth and knowledge transfer.
Apply transmission line design expertise in PLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, structure loading, material procurement, construction specifications and methods, construction estimates, and construction support.
Lead project teams of varying sizes.
Travel to client offices, field locations, and vendor facilities as needed.
Support Project Managers with project status reports, project scope, schedules, budgets, scope variances, updates, and forecasting.
Lead or support client meetings in person and remotely, and develop client relationships.
Support resource forecasting and recruitment efforts.
Provide business improvement methodologies and procedures.
Support staff performance and technical development with department leadership.
Contribute to business planning.
Make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and follow WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
