The Senior Transmission Line Engineer applies and expands knowledge of transmission line engineering, including conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles, to design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range. The role covers cost analyses, design criteria, routing and siting, conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies. The engineer works with vendors and clients to specify line components and directs a small project team. The position offers collaboration with experienced engineers, opportunities to mentor less experienced staff, and interaction with a diverse client base and other project teams. Additional work includes developing proposals and cost estimates for new projects, with occasional travel for site visits and client meetings. The position has a hybrid schedule combining office and remote work. Sargent & Lundy notes that employees may use data, automation, AI, and other digital tools where relevant, while remaining accountable for professional judgment and review.
