About The Position

This role is for a Senior Training Manager within the Lung Franchise of Oncology Learning & Capability Development at AstraZeneca. The position focuses on designing and delivering learning and development experiences for US Commercial field personnel to enhance customer engagement. The manager will act as a subject matter expert, aligning training solutions with clinical and capability needs, including new-hire training, ongoing skills development, and product launch training. Success requires understanding sales force needs, brand/tumor strategy, agency management, and strong communication skills for stakeholder alignment in a matrixed environment. Adaptability, effective stakeholder management, and agile working methods are key.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent required
  • 7+ years of a blend of Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Oncology sales or sales leadership experience
  • Healthcare consulting, project management or needs analysis at a business unit level
  • Minimum of at least 3 accumulated years of training or training related experience (eg. Rotational Training Manager, Regional Training Specialist, Foundations Trainer)
  • Ability to effectively communicate and lead in a cross-functional environment, providing direction and guidance to team members with varied and complementary responsibilities
  • Knowledge of instructional systems design and/or adult learning methodology
  • Understanding the place of AI in field enablement applications and use of AI assisted design tools (Synthesia, Copilot, Notebook LM, etc).

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience with subject matter knowledge and/or application within Oncology
  • Ability to translate brand/marketing strategy into effective training plans
  • Thorough understanding of market dynamic within the oncology space
  • Advanced degree in a related field or equivalent
  • Previous work pulling through agentic AI workstreams to enhance sales capabilities

  • Leading product and indication launch learning plan development in the dynamic and growing Lung franchise
  • Anticipating curriculum development opportunities based on market trends and aligned customer needs – proactive in recommending learning pathways
  • Being regarded as therapeutic expert, proactively supporting peers in continuous development of their Clinical Acumen.
  • Flexing exceptional communication skills to multiple levels of stakeholders in a variety of situations: home office and field leadership, cross-functional peers, large and small group facilitation.
