At this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered. PSE&G is seeking a new member for the Technical Training team within the Transformation & Centralized Service organization at our Edison NJ location, and advances the training that supports a safe, skilled and efficient utility work force working in concert with a team of training professionals for PSE&G’s Substation Operator and Service Dispatcher occupational groups. The role is responsible for conducting the instruction and learning evaluation required to provide apprentice and incumbent employees & contractor personnel (as required) with the technical skills and knowledge necessary to perform electric distribution system Service Dispatching and Substation Operations in accordance with job specifications, contract obligations, Technical Manuals and regulatory requirements with a special focus on Safety Tagging / Energy Control Procedures. The Sr. Training & Development Specialist will be a member of relevant training committees or Occupational Work Groups. Eligible for on-call field assignments as a supervisor. Available for field supervisory shifts.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Minimum of 7 yrs. of relevant field experience is their specific subject matter (Occupational Work Group)
  • At least 5 years of indirect supervisory experience or 3 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Over 4 years of training/education experience in subject matter
  • Demonstrated experience in training/educating others using methodologies: analysis, design, development, evaluation, and alternative delivery methods, including eLearning or virtual instruction applications
  • Demonstrated ability to cross-train to expand skill sets and competencies into multiple topics/disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in computer applications, including Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of making effective oral presentations
  • Ability to facilitate joint union / management assessment teams
  • Project management related experience
  • Experience in Learning Management System use
  • Experience in alternative training delivery methods, including automated, computer-based or virtual / augmented reality applications
  • Provide leadership through peer-to-peer coaching/guidance for junior instructors
  • Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required
  • Must prove they are: (1) a citizen or national of the USA; OR (2) a lawful permanent resident of the United States (Non-Conditional Permanent I-551 / Green Card / Permanent Resident Card holder); OR (3) a citizen, national, or permanent resident of a “Generally Authorized” destination on the attached list not also a citizen, national, permanent resident of any country not listed; OR (4) a “Protected Individual” under the Immigration and Naturalization Act (8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Instruct Electric Distribution courses. Responsible for coaching and developing trainees in their classroom.
  • Become proficient in teaching general Electric Distribution classes, such as Substation Awareness, Safety Tagging, and/or DC/AC
  • Content development updates.
  • Actively works to annually develop learning content for their courses, work with learning technology, and time management skills
  • Develop relationships with subject matter experts to identify training needs and related content. Develop relationships with external subject matter experts to identify industry best practices
  • Use learning technology, Analysis, design, and evaluate apprentice and incumbent employee technical training
  • Understand and explain key training metrics associated with the Manager’s Dashboard
  • Be a supervisor of work by BU employees on field assignments in the Division
