About The Position

GAI Consultants is hiring a Senior Traffic Engineer for its Transportation Business Unit. The role leads traffic analysis and design on PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects and is suited to a licensed traffic engineer who enjoys hands-on design and leading teams. The position is hybrid and based in Cranberry Township, Homestead, or Southpointe, Pennsylvania. The stated pay range is $135,000 to $165,000 per year, based on experience.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of traffic engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Valid driver's license.
• Working knowledge of PennDOT, Turnpike, and MUTCD standards.
• MicroStation and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in engineering.
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
• OpenRoads Designer experience.
• Allegheny County and City of Pittsburgh project experience.
• P.E. reciprocity in additional states.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic modeling and analysis using Highway Capacity Software and Synchro/SimTraffic.
• Design traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT).
• Produce and check traffic reports, plans, specifications, and cost opinions.
• Manage scope, schedule, staffing, and budget on multidisciplinary projects.
• Mentor engineers and support their growth.
