About The Position

The Senior Trader (Automated Trading) is responsible for advancing automation, AI, and data-driven capabilities across Trading. This role combines superior technology and data expertise with capital markets proficiency to enhance order routing, trade execution, liquidity access, position management, risk management, and the firm's ability to scale trading volumes efficiently. Through automation and technology innovation, this role improves trading outcomes, operational resilience, and the client and associate experience in a profound way. Operating with significant autonomy, this individual serves as a senior subject matter expert for complex trading systems, workflows, data, and operational challenges. In partnership with Trading leadership and cross-functional teams, the Senior Trader evaluates, prioritizes, and implements automation, AI, analytics, and emerging technologies that improve execution quality, trading performance, scalability, and business outcomes while maintaining strong governance and controls. As a champion of innovation, this individual drives automation, workflow optimization, and technology adoption to support sustainable growth, increased trading volumes, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 11+ years of related experience in Trading, Technology, Product Management, and/or related fields
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • FINRA Series 7 & 66 required upon hire
  • FINRA Series 52 required within 6 months of hire
  • Expert knowledge leveraging automation platforms, AI tools, data analytics, low-code technologies, and workflow orchestration solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of capital markets, trading operations, market structure, and fixed income and/or equity trading workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement technology-enabled solutions that deliver measurable operational and business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data quality management, system integrations, and trading technology ecosystems.
  • Proven ability to lead highly complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and significant business impact.
  • Deep knowledge of risk management, regulatory requirements, governance frameworks, and control environments within financial services.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience driving organizational change, technology adoption, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Passion for innovation and a demonstrated ability to translate emerging technologies into practical, scalable business solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Help shape and advance the automation, AI, data, and technology roadmap across Trading to improve execution quality, routing effectiveness, scalability, trading capacity, and streamline supervision capabilities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement technologies that enhance order routing, trade execution, position management, straight-through processing, and operational efficiency for traders and leaders.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for complex trading systems, workflow, data, integration, and operational issues.
  • Design and oversee automation, AI, and intelligent workflow solutions that improve execution outcomes, productivity, scalability, and risk management.
  • Partner across Trading, Technology, Data, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Product teams to deliver scalable solutions aligned with business objectives, market structure, and client needs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and develop implementation roadmaps that support higher trading volumes, operational resilience, and long-term business value.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex routing, execution, system, data, and operational issues impacting trading outcomes.
  • Establish governance, compliance, cybersecurity, and risk management practices that support resilient and auditable trading operations.
  • Track execution quality, routing effectiveness, automation adoption, productivity, operational, and risk metrics to measure business impact and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop standards, documentation, and best practices that promote operational excellence, data quality, and process consistency.
  • Cultivate and maintain key trading technology relationships, driving vendor accountability, innovation, and strategic alignment.
  • Mentor associates and lead training, knowledge sharing, and change management efforts to expand adoption of automation and AI capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Trading leadership on capital markets, market structure, execution strategy, technology investments, automation opportunities, and business outcomes.
