About The Position

GHD is seeking a Senior Track Engineer to join their team in the GTA. This role involves leading internal Designers and Engineers, focusing on organizing the technical team, managing inter-disciplinary coordination, controlling the design path, problem-solving, and ensuring the successful outcome of track design. The position operates within a hybrid work model, requiring three days a week in the office, and can be based in any of GHD's GTA offices (Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, or Whitby). The role offers a variety of work within an energetic and high-performing team.

Requirements

Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree or equivalent
Professional Engineer licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario
15-20 years' experience similar or related experience
Demonstrable experience in the development and design of rail and transit track in a 3D environment, including complex alignments, junctions, turnouts and crossovers
Detailed understanding of Canadian Rail Codes and Standards, including (but not limited to) AREMA, CN, CPKC, and Metrolinx Track Standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Team building and mentoring skills

Responsibilities

Lead track design for engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and codes and standards (Metrolinx, TTC, AREMA)
Ensure all requirements including specifications and standards are integrated into the project
Ensure quality controls processes are being followed
Provide support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals, developing design workflows and best practices
Develop and mentor and develop staff
Partner with the Project Manager on the budget and schedule on a regular basis while identifying gaps and providing solutions to achieving the scope
Partner closely with the Rail and Transit Business Lead, Project Directors and Design Manager on all project functions
Serve as liaison between the site and engineering disciplines during construction and be responsible for the review of shop drawings
Represent GHD at Client meetings
