About The Position

The Senior Tooling Engineer is responsible for ensuring the availability of the tooling and equipment to support reliable die-cast manufacturing and on-time delivery - in close cooperation with the tooling suppliers and the plant operational teams. The Senior Tooling Engineer will be involved in all phases of the project – from tooling quotes to design and approval of the tools. Key emphasis will be on the appropriate involvement and ownership with the key stakeholders and ensuring that tools are delivered to the sites that meet both the customer's and TCDC’s technical expectations. Strong technical skills, knowledge of mold tooling, and the ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders are must-haves for this role. This position requires strict adherence to US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Candidates must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in tooling and die
  • Strong working competency with SolidWorks.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.
  • Ensure that TCDC has an assortment of competent suppliers.
  • Development of new suppliers should be done on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee the auditing of all tooling suppliers on a bi-annual basis.
  • Evaluate the performance of tooling and tool houses after every project via score cards.
  • Seek competitive pricing on tooling to enable TCDC to win business and maintain profitability. Two or more tool houses should be able to meet the TCDC price point on each project.
  • Issue purchase orders for new tooling in a timely manner.
  • Track timing on tooling and ensure that tooling is delivered by the date promised.
  • Support and work in cooperation with the APQP Team to achieve project goals.
  • Oversee tooling design to enable tooling to run efficiently and to rate with minimal downtime and maintenance.
  • Early participation in new project launch PFMEA analysis in conjunction with other team members, divisional personnel, and corporate functions to ensure appropriate preventive measures are included in tooling specifications.
  • Responsible for knowing and following all environmental, health, and safety rules, policies, and procedures for work area and takes responsibility to assure that personal work activity is conducted in such a way so as to not affect the safety of themselves or others.
