About The Position

The Sr. Textile Designer leads the JCPenney Art Studio Team in generating brand and trend-leading art, instituting new art techniques and processes, supporting pattern and print trends, mentoring talent, and ensuring alignment with enterprise calendars and standards. This role involves forecasting trends, supporting on-boarding and development of team members, managing artwork standards, and collaborating with various internal and external partners to ensure efficient and effective art creation and delivery for JCPenney's diverse product assortment.

Requirements

  • College Degree in Graphic Design, Art, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong Creative, Trend, Concept Vision, Interpersonal, Decision-Making, Critical Thinking, Solution Oriented, Presentation, and Relationship skills
  • Familiarity with textile print production manufacturing, machinery, processes, and graphic/print/pattern technical knowledge
  • 8+ Years of Experience in Print & Pattern Crafting
  • Some experience in Creative Direction
  • Experience working with leadership within an organization

Responsibilities

  • Create art that supports the concept and seasonal direction for each brand, ensuring alignment with Design Team and Business Unit needs and pushing relevant print & graphics trends.
  • Champion and teach new art techniques to the studio team, and test/implement new technology, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Forecast print & pattern trends and techniques through presentations for the team and key partners.
  • Serve as an "on-boarding" partner for new hires, guiding them through processes, technologies, and art crafting methods. Engage and mentor Art Studio Team and DSS Team members, and create standards and tools for artwork improvement.
  • Support coordination, scheduling, and cross-functional team touchpoints to establish timelines, review program needs, ensure legal compliance, and release files to prevent delivery delays.
  • Evaluate Design Teams’ assortment trends to ensure adequate staffing and structure to support business needs, managing personal work portfolio and identifying quick response processes for speed to market.
  • Partner with Design, Trend, Brand Strategy, Customer Insights, Product Development, Merchandising, Merchandise Sourcing, Marketing, and Customer Strategy/Partnerships.
  • Utilize active listening and a confident point of view when presenting work and collaborating with partner teams, acting as an expert.
