Purpose We are looking for a Senior Hardware Test Engineer to join our team in Annapolis, MD at our testing center to help CENTEGIX continue to deliver on the quality customers expect from the CrisisAlert system. This position focuses on hands-on lab duties, test design, setup, and occasional 3D-printer / CNC fabrication.

Requirements

  • 6 years of professional test engineering experience in embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience validating low-power embedded systems using industry-standard methodologies.
  • Experience with firmware verification, communication protocols, and diagnostic and measurement hardware.
  • Test automation in Python or a similar scripting language.
  • Skilled with lab equipment for hardware-level diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with AWS IoT and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Competency designing 2–4 layer PCBs in Altium or equivalent.
  • End-to-end ownership of test plans: development, execution, and formal reporting.
  • Proficient with Git; able to build firmware directly from source.
  • Working knowledge of HIL environments, CI/CD, and regression testing.
  • Solid foundation in basic Electrical Engineering principles.
  • Hands-on skills including soldering and assembly of electro-mechanical test fixtures.
  • Competent in sourcing components and ordering PCBs for rapid prototyping.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS Lambda, RF testing, or environmental stress testing.
  • Experience operating 3D printers and light-duty CNC machinery for prototype development, including fabrication of components from wood, plastic, and aluminum.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 / ISO 13485).
  • Understanding of Agile workflows and CI/CD pipelines for firmware.
  • Ability to analyze complex system interactions across hardware, firmware, and wireless layers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain hardware and firmware for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test jigs.
  • Apply industry-standard testing protocols for low-power embedded systems.
  • Execute comprehensive test plans for firmware deployments, including system, regression, and low-power evaluations.
  • Use lab equipment—oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and function generators—for signal-level diagnosis and debugging.
  • Partner with hardware, firmware, and cloud teams to root-cause issues and confirm fixes.
  • Develop and maintain automated test workflows triggered by Continuous Integration (CI).
  • Maintain traceability between requirements and tests.
  • Produce detailed test reports, results, and procedures in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
  • Drive ongoing improvements in test coverage, product quality, and process effectiveness.
  • Give clear, constructive feedback to advance the maturity of the testing process.
