About The Position

Amentum is partnering with the DoD SkillBridge program to offer transitioning service members an opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through industry-specific training, mentorship, and hands-on projects. This program is designed to help participants translate their military skills into a rewarding civilian career while still on active duty. Participants will work alongside experienced professionals, receive targeted training, and build a professional network to support post-service employment. This specific opportunity is for a Senior Test Engineer to provide support to NSWC Dahlgren H20 for AN/SQQ-89 testing at an integrator location (Lockheed Martin/Manassas VA) for domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) systems.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with seven (7) years of systems test experience with real-time weapons systems, combat systems, or fire control systems; OR US Naval operational experience in a combat systems rate at the E6 level or higher with four (4) years of systems test experience with real-time weapons systems, combat systems, or fire control systems; OR Ten (10) years of systems test experience with real-time weapons systems, combat systems, or fire control systems.
  • Active-duty service members within 90 to 180 days of separation, with command approval.
  • Motivated to learn, adapt, and contribute in a civilian work environment.
  • Interested in Test Engineering on naval systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in testing and test analysis of systems or software for surface ship weapons control and C2 systems.
  • Performing test activities including developer/capability level testing, functional level testing (FQT/Verification and Validation), software/system integration testing, or AEGIS combat systems integration land-based testing.
  • Using simulators in a test environment.
  • Experience with Agile tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Confluence).
  • Experience with ASW fire control system (e.g., AN/SQQ-89).

Responsibilities

  • Write and execute test cases that will exercise both the SQQ-89 system as well as its external interfaces including but not limited to AWS, VLS, TSP, and Radar.
  • Document issues observed with SQQ-89 and its external interfaces with clear descriptions and steps to reproduce for later analysis.
  • Review system documentation and requirements and provide technical input to the Systems Engineering team.
  • Review issues from the Fleet Support team and re-create the issue in the lab for further investigation.
  • Witness installing the SQQ-89 system ensuring the SVD is following and providing redlined changes as needed.
  • Work with the system Integrator's automated test team to design automated test scripts.
