About The Position

CENTEGIX is seeking a Senior Hardware Test Engineer to work at its testing center in Annapolis, Maryland. The role supports the quality of the CrisisAlert system and focuses on hands-on laboratory work, test design and setup, and occasional 3D-printer and CNC fabrication. It is a hybrid position requiring five days per week onsite during initial training and onboarding, transitioning to three to four onsite days per week once fully ramped up. The engineer will design and maintain hardware and firmware for Hardware-in-the-Loop test jigs, validate low-power embedded systems, and plan and execute firmware testing. The position works closely with hardware, firmware, and cloud teams to investigate issues and verify fixes, and develops automated testing workflows integrated with Continuous Integration. The role also maintains requirements-to-test traceability and produces formal test documentation and reports aligned with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. The engineer is expected to improve test coverage, product quality, and testing processes, and to provide constructive feedback that advances testing maturity.

Requirements

  • Six years of professional test engineering experience in embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience validating low-power embedded systems using industry-standard methodologies.
  • Experience with firmware verification, communication protocols, and diagnostic and measurement hardware.
  • Test automation experience in Python or a similar scripting language.
  • Skill with laboratory equipment for hardware-level diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with AWS IoT and AWS CloudWatch.

  • End-to-end ownership of test plans, including development, execution, and formal reporting.
  • Proficiency with Git and ability to build firmware directly from source.
  • Working knowledge of HIL environments, CI/CD, and regression testing.
  • A solid foundation in basic electrical engineering principles.
  • Hands-on soldering and assembly skills for electromechanical test fixtures.
  • Competency sourcing components and ordering PCBs for rapid prototyping.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS Lambda, RF testing, or environmental stress testing.
  • Experience operating 3D printers and light-duty CNC machinery for prototype development, including fabricating components from wood, plastic, and aluminum.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, including ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
  • Understanding of Agile workflows and CI/CD pipelines for firmware.
  • Ability to analyze complex system interactions across hardware, firmware, and wireless layers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain hardware and firmware for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test jigs.
  • Apply industry-standard testing protocols for low-power embedded systems.
  • Execute test plans for firmware deployments, including system, regression, and low-power evaluations.
  • Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and function generators for signal-level diagnosis and debugging.
  • Partner with hardware, firmware, and cloud teams to identify root causes and confirm fixes.
  • Develop and maintain automated test workflows triggered by Continuous Integration (CI).
  • Maintain traceability between requirements and tests.
  • Produce detailed test reports, results, and procedures in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
  • Improve test coverage, product quality, and process effectiveness.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to advance the maturity of the testing process.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory work, test design and setup, and occasional 3D-printer or CNC fabrication.
