About The Position

Join Rain Bird as a Senior Test Engineer specializing in Radio Frequency (RF) and Networking to drive quality assurance for innovative IoT hardware products within our rapidly expanding lab environment in Tucson, Arizona. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate, troubleshoot, and optimize wireless systems, routers, and networked devices. This role offers hands-on engagement with advanced networking and RF technologies in a dynamic, growth-focused workplace.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Network Engineering
• Five years of hands-on experience in network-based system connectivity testing
• Proficient with IP networking, Wi-Fi technologies, routers, and switching equipment
• Skilled in network troubleshooting, diagnostics, and the use of test equipment such as spectrum and network analyzers
• Experience working in laboratory or test environments with hardware-connected products and embedded/firmware systems
• Ability to monitor and interpret network traffic, logs, and packet data for detailed analysis
• Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Zephyr)

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain router-based field/lab networks for comprehensive testing activities
• Conduct network diagnostics, monitoring, and troubleshooting of connectivity and performance issues
• Analyze network traffic, data patterns, backup rates, and packet/data loss scenarios to ensure optimal performance
• Execute radio and wireless communication testing for connected hardware products, including controllers and mobile app-enabled devices
• Utilize spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other RF/network equipment to perform rigorous testing and validation
• Support the development and expansion of Rain Bird’s radio testing lab environment
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and product teams to communicate progress, risks, and solutions
• Document high-quality bug reports and maintain clear, organized test cases and test suites
