About The Position

The Compliance Test Engineer executes and documents EMC, product safety, and environmental testing in an accredited laboratory environment. This role is hands-on and is primarily responsible for the execution, technical integrity, troubleshooting, and documentation of compliance testing for complex in-vitro diagnostic instrumentation and electrical equipment. The ideal candidate brings deep laboratory testing experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to produce defensible test records in a regulated, accredited environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of related laboratory, compliance, test, electrical, or product-development experience.
Strong working knowledge of the IEC 61326 and IEC 61010 series, or the IEC 60601 series.
Hands-on experience with EMC test setups, instrumentation, and mitigation and troubleshooting techniques.
Proficiency operating spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other EMC and product safety instrumentation.
Ability to read electrical schematics, component specifications, and mechanical drawings, and to make circuit board modifications and wiring harness changes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing formal technical documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn laboratory document and record-management systems.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred or Associate Degree in Electrical or Engineering Technology or related field or equivalent technical training and experience.
Prior experience in an accredited EMC, product safety, or environmental testing laboratory, or in a regulated product-development environment.
Experience troubleshooting compliance failures and recommending practical design or setup corrective actions.
Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, IECEE CTF programs, and internal, customer, and external auditing processes.
Experience mentoring junior engineers or technicians in a laboratory environment.
Continuous learning mindset with a strong commitment to data integrity and quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

Execute and document EMC, product safety, and environmental testing in accordance with approved test plans, test contracts, laboratory procedures, work instructions, and quality system requirements.
Perform test setup, execution, and reporting to applicable standards, including the IEC 61326, IEC 61010, IEC 60601, and IEC 6068 series and related national and international requirements.
Execute conducted emissions, radiated emissions, conducted immunity, radiated immunity, ESD, EFT/burst, surge, magnetic immunity, and voltage dips and short interruptions testing.
Prepare high-quality test data, worksheets, photographs, setup records, reports, and data packages suitable for design verification, certification, and audit review.
Maintain test-article identification, configuration control, and sample traceability, and record any changes that could affect the validity of test results.
Set up, operate, verify, troubleshoot, and maintain EMC, product safety, and environmental test equipment, and support calibration, verification, and equipment-status activities.
Support the installation, movement, setup, troubleshooting, and removal of instruments, test articles, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment within the test environments.
Identify failure mechanisms, support EMC mitigation and product safety troubleshooting during development and test cycles, and recommend technically defensible corrective actions.
Recognize deviations, questionable results, equipment issues, and nonconforming work, and escalate or stop work when the validity, safety, or quality of testing may be compromised.
Collaborate with the Compliance Project Engineer, STL Technical Lead, Quality/Compliance Engineer, and cross-functional engineering teams to resolve test issues and meet project commitments.
Participate in cross-training and structured knowledge transfer, including capture of technical methods and lessons learned from experienced laboratory personnel.
Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory procedures, documentation, test methods, and efficiency.
Perform additional laboratory and project responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager based on demonstrated competency, workload, and organizational needs.
