Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Development Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated test solutions for Viavi Solutions' cutting-edge optical and network testing products. This role involves working across the product lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring the highest quality and reliability of our offerings.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in test development engineering, preferably in the telecommunications, optical, or network testing industry.
Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, LabVIEW).
Solid understanding of test methodologies, instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, optical power meters, network analyzers), and data acquisition.
Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and test fixture design.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of optical communication principles and technologies (e.g., fiber optics, transceivers, DWDM) is highly desirable.
Familiarity with network protocols and testing (e.g., Ethernet, TCP/IP) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test equipment (ATE) and test programs for new and existing products, focusing on optical, electrical, and RF measurements.
Collaborate with R&D, Hardware, Software, and Manufacturing teams to define test requirements, strategies, and methodologies.
Develop test plans, test cases, and test specifications based on product requirements and industry standards.
Program in various languages (e.g., Python, C++, LabVIEW) to control test instrumentation, analyze data, and generate reports.
Perform root cause analysis of test failures and implement corrective actions.
Optimize test processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and throughput.
Select, evaluate, and integrate new test equipment and technologies.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Document test procedures, results, and design choices thoroughly.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the test engineering department.
