About The Position

We are Monterail, a team of ~130 developers, designers, QAs, and other technology professionals building innovative software. We work with clients globally, helping businesses of all sizes develop outstanding digital products. We are currently seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join one of our clients in the luxury travel & hospitality sector. This client manages an exclusive collection of premium properties across the Mediterranean. The engineering team builds and maintains internal tools for client-matching, sales, and operations workflows. The technology stack includes Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL (hosted on AWS), and Next.js, with a trunk-based repository, CI/CD, and multiple daily deployments. This role is based in Wrocław, Poland, and reports to the Lead Test Automation Engineer. It is a central, hands-on position involving both manual and automated testing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in test automation
  • Strong proficiency in Playwright and TypeScript
  • Deep understanding of testing methodologies: functional, regression, UAT, system integration, exploratory
  • Proven track record designing and building test automation frameworks from the ground up
  • Demonstrable experience leveraging AI coding agents, or genuine enthusiasm to adopt and master them quickly
  • Solid knowledge of git and version control practices in a team environment
  • Strong understanding of the DOM and how to write reliable, maintainable locator strategies
  • Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g. Jira) and test management tools (e.g. TestRail)
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with usability and accessibility testing
  • Experienced working within Agile/Scrum teams
  • English proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Jira and writing clear developer documentation in Notion
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust end-to-end test automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript
  • Write and execute automated test scripts covering functional, regression, and integration scenarios
  • Establish and document QA practices, procedures, and standards scaled to the organisation
  • Collaborate closely with developers to investigate, analyse, and resolve defects, and drive automation testing best practices
  • Contribute to story planning and definition of acceptance criteria within Scrum ceremonies
  • Track, analyse, and report on software quality metrics across sprints and releases
  • Act as a key point of escalation for software quality issues, driving resolution across the team
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance software quality and user experience
  • Keep current with industry trends and automation tooling, bringing learnings back to the team
