Senior Tekla Detailer - Structural Steel
About The Position
We are looking for a Senior Tekla Detailer to lead structural steel detailing in a steel fabrication environment, with hands-on ownership of complex Tekla modeling, detailing standards, and drafting team leadership. Requirements
- 8+ years of structural steel detailing experience with advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures.
- Demonstrated experience developing or improving Tekla standards, workflows, or drafting procedures.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising detailers in a fabrication or structural steel environment.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection sequencing, connection details, and shop drawing requirements.
- Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams throughout project execution.
- Candidates without advanced Tekla experience or structural steel detailing expertise will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Produce and review complex Tekla models, shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication packages for structural steel projects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide Tekla modeling and drafting standards to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Lead and mentor the drafting team by providing technical guidance, training, and quality reviews.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and production teams to resolve detailing challenges before fabrication.
- Review structural drawings and specifications to ensure models and fabrication documents accurately reflect project requirements.
- Perform quality control reviews of drawings and models prior to release for fabrication.
- Identify opportunities to improve drafting workflows, automation, and modeling efficiency using Tekla.
- Assist with scheduling drafting workloads and prioritizing deliverables to meet project deadlines.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen department processes and technical capabilities.
