Senior Technology Project Manager – Banking Systems

Luminate Bank•Minneapolis, MN
•$120,000 - $140,000

About The Position

Luminate Bank is seeking a Senior Technology Project Manager to own bank technology projects from idea through go-live. The role sets project plans, assigns work, leads core and digital banking vendors, and ensures delivery on time and within scope. It translates business needs into clear requirements for Jack Henry and other core banking providers, recommends technical solutions, and partners with Engineering when proprietary applications or AI agents using vendor APIs are needed. This is a hands-on leadership role covering project delivery, scope and change control, vendor implementations, business analysis, technical recommendations, and process improvement. The manager coordinates business, technology, and vendor teams; manages testing, cutover, training, and go-live readiness; maintains audit-ready documentation; and helps improve the bank’s SDLC and delivery practices. The role also provides coordination during high-priority incidents or critical releases affecting bank systems. The position’s stated success milestones include learning the bank’s systems, vendors, and project portfolio during the first 30 days; establishing signed-off scopes, working plans, and weekly status routines for active projects within 90 days; and delivering one or two vendor implementations or enhancements on time and in scope within six months.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of project management experience in banking or financial services technology, including leading third-party vendor implementations through go-live.
  • Hands-on experience with core banking systems; Jack Henry (SilverLake) and MANTL are strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of bank operations and products, including deposits, lending, payments, digital banking, and related compliance such as BSA/AML, Reg E, and vendor risk.
  • Proven ability to define scope, prevent scope creep, and deliver on schedule.
  • Strong business analysis skills, including discovery, process mapping, requirements, and user acceptance testing.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to discuss APIs, integrations, data flows, and system configuration with vendors and engineers.
  • Confident, proactive leadership skills, including assigning work, following up, and holding peers, business leaders, and vendors accountable.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with executives, business users, and technical teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience in banking technology or technology project leadership will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Jack Henry (SilverLake) and MANTL experience.
  • Experience with core conversions, digital banking implementations, or loan origination system (LOS) implementations.
  • Experience with Agile delivery and tools such as Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Jira, or GitHub Projects.
  • Exposure to data platforms, automation, or AI agent use cases in banking.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, CBAP, or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bank technology projects from intake and scoping through planning, execution, testing, go-live, and post-launch review.
  • Build and maintain project plans with tasks, owners, dates, and dependencies; assign work across business, technology, and vendor teams.
  • Run kickoffs, working sessions, and status meetings, and publish weekly status updates covering risks and decisions.
  • Hold stakeholders and vendors accountable for commitments and escalate schedule or quality risks with a recommended path forward.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and develop plans to unblock stalled work.
  • Define project scope, success criteria, and out-of-scope items and obtain business sign-off before work begins.
  • Operate a formal change-request process and assess proposed changes for impacts on time, cost, and risk.
  • Break large initiatives into phased deliveries that provide value to users sooner.
  • Manage implementations, upgrades, and conversions with Jack Henry and other core, digital banking, payments, and fintech providers.
  • Review statements of work and project plans with Vendor Management, own the bank-side plan, and hold vendors to their plans.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, cutover planning, training, and go-live readiness.
  • Lead discovery with business owners and document current- and future-state processes and requirements.
  • Write functional and technical requirements for vendors and translate vendor responses for business stakeholders.
  • Evaluate whether to configure, buy, or build solutions and recommend options with their trade-offs, costs, and risks.
  • Work with Engineering on integrations, proprietary applications, and AI agents using vendor APIs; define requirements, acceptance criteria, and priorities while Engineering builds.
  • Clarify stakeholder roles, decision owners, and deadlines for each project.
  • Follow and help improve SDLC, documentation standards, change management, release planning, intake, and capacity planning.
  • Keep project documentation, requirements, and decisions current and audit-ready.
  • Identify and champion AI-enabled tools to improve requirements, ticket writing, and project management.
  • Provide hands-on coordination during high-priority incidents or critical release events affecting bank systems.
