About The Position

The Senior Technician is responsible for supporting non-standard production activities, overseeing the build of customised enclosures, carrying out detailed fault finding on returned items, and making accurate warranty adjudication decisions. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound judgement, and close collaboration with production, quality, engineering, and customer support teams to ensure products are built, assessed, repaired, or dispositioned efficiently and in line with company standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior technician, manufacturing, production, service, or warranty-related technical role.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, pneumatic electrical, or electro-mechanical products and assemblies.
  • Experience in the build and assembly of customised enclosures or similar bespoke technical products.
  • Experience working with returned goods, repair assessment, or warranty claims evaluation.
  • Relevant technical qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical instructions.
  • Good understanding of quality standards, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Competence in recording technical findings and maintaining accurate service or warranty documentation.
  • Computer proficiency and comfort working with computer systems such as ERP to process and interpret data
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 8D, or other structured problem-solving methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working from bespoke enclosure layouts, assembly drawings, or customer-specific build documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support and execute non-standard production builds, modifications, and rework activities in accordance with technical specifications and quality requirements.
  • Build and assemble customised enclosures to specification, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with customer and engineering requirements.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on returned items using appropriate test equipment, technical documentation, and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Inspect returned products to determine failure mode, root cause, and appropriate corrective action.
  • Assess warranty claims and make adjudication decisions based on technical findings, product condition, usage evidence, and applicable warranty policy.
  • Document inspection results, test data, fault reports, and warranty outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with production, engineering, quality, and customer-facing teams to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement.
  • Identify recurring product or process issues and provide feedback to improve reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Support training and guidance for technicians or operators on complex builds, diagnostics, and warranty assessment processes.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that reduce returns, improve fault diagnosis, and enhance turnaround times.
