About The Position
The Senior Technician coordinates and performs routine and non-routine laboratory testing of in-process samples from Operations and the Fermentation Pilot Plant in accordance with GMP/GLP rules. The role also assists with planned Pilot Plant activities according to established timelines. It maintains laboratory and some production instrumentation, notebooks, records, and data management needed for analysis, while helping ensure the laboratory is clean, organized, and efficient.
Requirements
- One year of experience in a microbiology laboratory or fermentation environment.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and coordinate multiple resources without direct supervision.
- Broad or general knowledge of quality control techniques and methods.
- Broad understanding of safety, hygiene, and GMP rules.
- Ability to accurately execute assigned tasks and use problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify solutions to daily challenges.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry preferred.
Responsibilities
- Autonomously perform laboratory analysis and testing, with an emphasis on organized daily routines.
- Apply a broad range of analytical and microbiological techniques.
- Take responsibility for laboratory and some Operations analytical equipment.
- Write SOPs, recommend updates to SOPs when needed, and handle procurement of laboratory, Pilot Plant, and some Operations supplies.
- Apply knowledge of the Management-of-Change (MOC) process.
- Maintain, calibrate, validate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Perform calculations and collect and prepare data for evaluation.
- Assist with planned Pilot Plant activities according to established timelines.
- Maintain laboratory and some production instrumentation, notebooks, records, and data management as needed for analysis.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
- Perform additional responsibilities as defined and provided by leadership.
