About The Position

This position oversees the installation and commissioning of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics. The role involves leading diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial systems. A key responsibility is implementing and monitoring preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtimes. The technician will manage rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units, ensuring optimal performance and compliance. This role requires the use of heavy machinery and the submission of required written and electronic information, such as expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, and maintenance logs. Detailed notes, including before and after photos, must be entered into work orders. The position ensures adherence to OSHA standards and EPA refrigerant handling protocols by supervising field practices and documentation. Inspections and repairs are conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes, including indoor air quality and cold chain requirements. Reclaiming ozone-depleting refrigerants and maintaining compliance with environmental guidelines are also crucial. The role involves leading HVAC/R field teams by coordinating work assignments, mentoring less-experienced technicians, and managing escalated service issues. There may be an assignment of a Developmental Technician for on-the-job training. Hands-on training sessions on safety, control troubleshooting, and system operations will be delivered at various company facilities and external sites. The technician will evaluate technician skill sets and provide feedback to senior leadership for workforce development. Participation in an on-call rotation is required to support business-critical needs outside of standard business hours, involving timely responses to incidents and issue resolution or escalation. Management of refrigerant levels, parts inventory, and vendor relationships is necessary to ensure the timely availability of materials. Tracking and ordering HVAC/R parts, recording purchases and usage, and ensuring contract compliance with external service providers are key duties. Coordination of service calls and management of regional/market workloads to meet business priorities and timelines are expected. Support for the implementation of HVAC/R business solutions includes identifying operational needs, monitoring progress, and adapting to organizational changes. Leading special projects by collecting data, evaluating new technologies, and recommending improvements is also part of the role. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and refine processes that meet evolving business demands is essential. The position also includes maintaining company vehicles in accordance with company policies and procedures, coordinating vehicle maintenance, and ensuring alternate driving support is arranged. Safe operation of motor vehicles, ensuring all required documents are present, and performing vehicle checks (fuel, water, brakes, signals, lights) are required. Maintenance invoices must be submitted for payment, and vehicle insurance coverage and validity must be verified. Adherence to company policies regarding uniform and badge wear is mandatory. The role involves leading and participating in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved; and modeling and helping others adapt to change or new challenges. Developing, communicating, and implementing processes and practices to meet business needs is achieved by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; analyzing and applying information from multiple sources; monitoring progress and results; and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities. Demonstrating, promoting, and supporting compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity is done by explaining, guiding, and demonstrating how to apply these in executing business processes and practices; implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and assisting management with correcting ethical and compliance issues and problems.
