About The Position

PLEX Solutions, Part of Markon, is looking for a Sr. Technical Writer for their Annapolis Junction, MD Customer. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in creating technical documents and working in a fast-paced environment. This role involves creating and maintaining various technical documents, including operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications. The writer will be responsible for understanding basic grammar and writing technical copy for diverse document types, gathering and organizing technical information from multiple sources, and ensuring it is comprehensible to a wide audience. The position requires working with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials, managing all phases of documentation, and researching highly technical subject matter. The writer will also prepare reports, responses, and briefings for various audiences, coordinate document layout and design, and apply technical writing concepts based on engineering drawings and expert consultations. A key aspect of the role is producing defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, and training manuals for DoD electronic equipment and systems, interpreting engineering and maintenance drawings, and operational procedures to synthesize complex computer-related information.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI W/ Polygraph through MD Customer
  • Eight (8) years of demonstrated technical writing experience.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a technical discipline from an accredited college or university (OR) Four (4) additional years of experience is required.
  • A Masters degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, reducing the requirement to six (6) years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Jira is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides and manuals and technical publications
  • Understand basic concepts (to include basic grammar concepts), responsible for writing technical copy for various types of documents
  • Gather technical information, prepares written text
  • Maintain a current internal documentation library
  • Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio etc.
  • Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials
  • Work on all phases of documentation
  • Understand basic concepts and write technical copy for various types of documents for a program/project of similar complexity
  • Prepare reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences
  • Coordinate layout and design of documents
  • Research highly technical subject matter, organizes information from multiples sources, and express technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers
  • Under general direction, write technical copy for various types of documents for a program/project of similar complexity
  • Apply concepts for technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available sources
  • Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems
  • Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings, operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of computer related information
