About The Position

This position will help drive and deliver technical documentation for global field and depot service employees, and hospital Bio-Med customers. This individual will be primarily focused on creating and delivering the service manuals and other technical instructions for a variety of products/technologies to give both employees and customers the technical information required to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain products in these businesses. This position is based in Lafayette, CO and is required to be on-site when requested. While currently defined as a remote position, this will become an on-site role when space on the Lafayette campus allows. Applicants must reside within the area prior to their first day of work in order to be considered. Note: This position is posted as remote, but required to be onsite at the Lafayette, CO campus as needed. Once space is available, this position will become onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of relevant experience
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • The employee is regularly required to be independently mobile.
  • The employee is also required to interact with a computer, and communicate with peers and co-workers.
  • Candidates below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a technical writing function at Medtronic supporting Service and Repair or related function
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably in medical device
  • Comfortable working with topic-based authoring in a content management system, specifically MadCap Flare
  • Experience writing materials for Service & Repair for medical equipment
  • Able to work in the Adobe Creative Suite applications and Adobe FrameMaker
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management systems such as Agile or Windchill
  • Comfortable in a hybrid work environment, able to be in our Lafayette, CO facility as frequently as needed
  • Able to work standard working hours

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, writes, and edits detailed technical instructions for Service & Repair technicians
  • Produces PDF and HTML/web-based publications using a variety of tools
  • Conducts interviews with various users, subject matter experts and technical staff to gather data for documentation
  • Researches and translates technical information into procedures and other information for highly technical and less technical audiences
  • May document engineering processes and specifications
  • Recommends formats responsive to technical and user requirements
  • Produces products that conform to company documentation and quality assurance standards
