About The Position

The partner in this position will need work cross functionally to achieve a variety of goals. They will lead project teams and work on teams in a varying of types of projects. These projects can be complex and require cross functional work to achieve project goals. This partner must also be capable of working independently and be driven to find ways of improving processes, documents, and the way the R&D team works. This partner will lead a direct report. In this role, there is an expectation to help train their direct report and provide frequent trainings to the greater R&D team. The role will require working in a variety of environments including production plants, pilot plant, and kitchens. In these environments, this partner will prepare samples, test ingredients and finished goods, and support the production of new products. This position will need extensive knowledge about maintaining electronic databases, SOPs, and customer information portals. This partner will also need an advanced knowledge of Schreiber ingredients and formulas as well as the systems that manage the ingredients and formulas. The partner in this role will also be responsible for helping to onboard raw materials, set up electronic formulas, and supporting/reviewing products and ingredients against customer and legal claims. They will be asked to provide insight and guidance while being a voice for R&D during system upgrades and other changes impacting the R&D team. Being able to communicate with others at a variety of different expertise levels is essential for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Research and Development and in the food industry
  • Background in dairy products
  • Strong understanding and previous use of systems used in the food industry including customer portals and electronic databases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences and audience size
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work using a computer and screens
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance (at least state minimum- more might be required), acceptable driving record per Schreiber Foods discretion, and vehicle that will ensure applicant can meet the travel necessities of the position are required (for positions that require any amount of travel)
  • Authorization to work in the country in which the role is based

Responsibilities

  • Work in a pilot plant environment to test new ingredients and formulas.
  • Test products and ingredients in a variety of applications and real-world scenarios.
  • Work in a plant environment to perform product and ingredient trials and commercialization.
  • Lead own trials.
  • Prepare and ship samples for various product cuttings, trainings, demonstrations, and customers.
  • Give and/or support cuttings, trainings, and demonstrations.
  • Apply an advanced knowledge of Schreiber Foods' products and process categories while working with cross functional partners to maintain a PLM system.
  • Perform a technical review and onboarding of new raw materials and secondary suppliers, creating salvage and intermediate formula codes, discontinuing items and formulas, creating R&D and plant formulas, and V spec clean up.
  • Set up co-pack items as well as creating pre-draft INRs, ingredient certifications, and formula breakdowns.
  • Perform on-going data maintenance.
  • Work within ECM to maintain documents and SOPs.
  • Quickly and accurately enter, review, and analyze information in a variety of databases, both internal and external.
  • Own a variety of processes and lead teams including, but not limited to, SOPs, R&D documents and website, PLM, and fulfillment of certain customer sample requests.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert that can answer questions.
  • Lead a Technical Specification Analyst.
  • Guide direct report through questions and concerns.
  • Serve as a backup to the Technical Specification Analyst.
  • Work in and lead cross functional teams to be a voice for R&D as changes to systems and processes are made.
  • Apply knowledge of SFI systems, processes, and products to improve organizational goals by acting as a process owner or performer on projects.
  • Train new ways of working in new and existing systems.
  • Enter specification information into customer specific portals.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of SFI philosophies, processes and systems and uses this knowledge to meet customer requirements.
