About The Position
Edison Scientific builds and commercializes AI agents for science. Scientific discovery moves too slowly, and autonomous AI agents are how we intend to fix that. We're assembling a team of top researchers and engineers across AI and biology to build an AI scientist. As our Senior Technical Recruiter, you will own and shape the talent function at one of the most exciting companies in AI. You will design and execute our recruiting strategy across engineering, science, and go-to-market, and you will eventually help build the team that accelerates scientific discovery for the world. You will operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, managing several roles. You will work directly with our engineers, scientists, and CEO to understand what we're building and who we need to execute it. You know what great recruiting infrastructure looks like at scale. You'll help us grow 2x, 3x, even 5x while ensuring every candidate has an outstanding experience along the way. This is a full-cycle recruiting role with a strong trajectory towards talent leadership. As Edison grows, this role grows with it. This role is on-site at our San Francisco office in the Dogpatch neighborhood. Our office is a converted warehouse with high ceilings, open space, and reminders of the scientific breakthroughs we want to accelerate. You will report to our talent leader.
Requirements
- 8+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a strong track record in technical roles (AI/ML, software engineering, or scientific computing strongly preferred)
- Experience recruiting for early-stage, fast-moving companies where the role definition evolves and ambiguity is the norm
- Proven ability to close senior and highly specialized candidates, including navigating complex negotiations
- Strong instincts for talent: you can assess a candidate quickly, advocate clearly, and push back when needed
- Experience managing or mentoring fellow teammates
- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Deeply organized with exceptional attention to candidate experience at every stage
Nice To Haves
- Experience recruiting for life sciences, biotech, or AI-for-science companies
- Familiarity with Ashby or similar modern ATS platforms
- Background working closely with a founding team or CEO on talent strategy
- Managing a team
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end recruiting across technical and non-technical roles: sourcing, screening, coordinating, closing
- Design and continuously improve our recruiting strategy, processes, and candidate experience
- Partner directly with hiring managers — including engineers, scientists, and our CEO — to define hiring priorities, calibrate on candidates, and make great hiring decisions
- Proactively source exceptional talent across AI engineering, applied science, and go-to-market functions
- Advise our existing recruiting team, providing ongoing direction, feedback, and development
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of candidates before roles formally open
- Use market intelligence and internal metrics to inform your hiring strategy
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the team throughout evaluation and closing, especially for senior and highly technical candidates
