About The Position

Scribd, Inc. is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join their mission to advance human understanding. The TPM team owns the frameworks and programs that drive how the Engineering, Product, Design, and Analytics (EPDA) organization plans, prioritizes, and executes. As a Senior TPM, you will own program strategy and execution across two critical pillars: one that develops payments, risk, identity, security, and accounting systems, and another that builds reporting, experimentation, and data products. You will drive the roadmap, connect them to dependent teams and leaders, and use AI to design better program management approaches. This role offers a broad, technical, high-stakes mandate to shape the company's backbone operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a TPM, program management, operations, or equivalent role at a technology company.
  • A track record of operating independently, leading through ambiguity, and navigating complex organizational dynamics.
  • A structured approach to work, with the judgment to know when to add process and when to remove it to reduce overhead and drive velocity.
  • Experience partnering closely with data or business-systems teams (e.g., analytics, experimentation, data platform, payments, risk, identity, or financial systems).
  • Strong familiarity with the software development process, working with product and engineering teams from roadmapping through delivery.
  • Experience working directly with engineers, product managers, analysts, and other subject matter experts.
  • Hands-on experience using AI in work, and a clear point of view on how it changes the program management craft.
  • Experience using data to identify problems and communicate solutions.
  • The ability to work and partner successfully across multiple functions in an organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to understand and articulate the big picture.
  • Distinctive problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be a thoughtful opinionator: hold strong, well-reasoned views and voice them respectfully.
  • Must be a proactive communicator who identifies possible problems before they surface.
  • Must be a relationship builder and organizational navigator, adept at building bridges across teams and functions.
  • Must be comfortable working with technical, backend teams, able to follow the substance and hold your own with subject matter experts.
  • Must be a continuous learner with a growth mindset and an appetite for unfamiliar problems.
  • Must be a voracious reader with a passion for books and the written and spoken word.

Nice To Haves

  • Worked in or alongside payments, risk, fraud, or fintech teams.
  • Partnered with data science, data modeling, or analytics engineering teams.
  • Understand the A/B testing and experimentation process, from design through analysis.
  • Comfortable enough in a data warehouse or Business Intelligence environment (e.g., Databricks, Looker, or Statsig) to answer own questions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an owner of program strategy and execution across Data & Analytics and Business Systems pillars.
  • Serve as the connective tissue between these pillars and their dependent partners.
  • Build relationships and trust with stakeholders at all levels, from engineers to e-staff.
  • Align diverse perspectives to achieve program goals.
  • Dive deep into the 'how' and 'why' of programs, developing plans that connect daily execution to strategic objectives.
  • Shape decision-making processes through sound judgment.
  • Act as a leader within the TPM team, identifying collaboration opportunities, sharing best practices, and coaching teammates.
  • Contribute to and take a leadership role in cross-company processes like yearly planning.
  • Drive multiple complex cross-functional programs simultaneously.
  • Create scalable frameworks across pillars and functions to track work and communicate progress.
  • Lead the delivery timeline for programs, proactively identifying risks and creating mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively propose success metrics for self and programs, and identify when metrics are at risk.
  • Use AI and lightweight tooling to reduce coordination tax on teams.
  • Build better solutions for manual, repetitive processes.
  • Identify and drive process improvements at team and cross-team levels to enable the organization to deliver at a larger scale.
