About The Position

In the Microsoft Frontier Company Engineering team, you won’t just build software; you’ll deliver real outcomes for some of the world’s most complex organizations. We are a global team of world-class engineers who have been working in a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) model for more than a decade, embedding directly within customer teams to solve their toughest challenges, side-by-side, and shipping production-ready solutions in days, not months. We work closely with our customers’ engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform. We are hiring a Senior Technical Program Manager to help drive high-impact engineering projects with our customers and their partners, transforming their missions using AI and other cloud-based solutions and services. TPMs identify and define the relevant customer scenarios, orchestrate the engineering approach to address these, and develop the end-to-end user stories with internal and external stakeholders, fulfilling the Product Owner role. You will be part of a cross-functional team of software engineers, data scientists, technical program managers, and designers who work side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their engineers to build innovative solutions. You will solve exciting business problems, contribute to open source, and collaborate with Microsoft product teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a United States Security Clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Software Engineering, Data Scientists, Designers, and SMEs to design complex technical solutions across feature areas.
  • Give key stakeholders data-driven recommendations based on identified risks.
  • Define success criteria and create relationships for implementing multiple feature areas for highly complex cross-functional projects.
  • Coordinate and ensure alignment across the business.
  • Deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups across divisions, track project schedules, drive development of staging and implementation plans, and lead governance programs.
  • Drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch.
  • Provide expertise needed for departments to collect performance metrics, lead customer support, and define and lead direct customer engagements.
