About The Position

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Technical Product Manager (TPM) to join its AI for IT and AI Lab teams. This role is crucial for driving deliverables, coordination, and operational rhythm to enhance IT productivity, quality, and speed across the enterprise. The TPM will partner with AI for IT workstream leads, architects, platform teams, and IT stakeholders to define opportunities, guide work through governance and delivery paths, and own the AI for IT product narrative and roadmap. This involves translating strategic intent and emerging technology into a prioritized portfolio of initiatives aligned with IT workflows and measurable outcomes. The TPM will act as the primary IT-side product lead for AI for IT initiatives, balancing innovation with pragmatism and ensuring AI capabilities are embedded into IT workflows. In the AI Lab, the role will support the structuring and framing of AI experiments, assist with opportunity intake, problem definition, success criteria, and alignment with enterprise standards, while coordinating cross-functional engagement for responsible experimentation. The TPM will also reinforce repeatable operating practices, including governance, documentation, and knowledge sharing, to ensure insights are leveraged. Additionally, the role will support Lab visibility and reporting, contributing to a cohesive AI innovation narrative and ensuring learnings inform the broader AI for IT roadmap. The position fosters a collaborative environment and may involve performance management and coaching of staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of related experience that includes experience in Technical Product Management.
  • Strong understanding of product development and development framework -- ideally Extreme Programming.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to gather and analyze data to drive problem solving and decision-making.
  • May own product strategy and execution, ensuring alignment between customer needs, business goals, and technology capabilities.
  • Advanced business knowledge and the ability to identify and define business needs including an understanding of the organization's business and technology operations.
  • Strong customer focus by being responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate in work approach.
  • Viewed as a senior resource on the team.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Lean methodologies preferred.
  • User-Centered Design certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with AI for IT workstream leads, architects, platform teams, and IT stakeholders to frame opportunities, drive discovery, define success criteria, and guide work through appropriate governance and delivery paths.
  • Own the AI for IT product narrative and roadmap—translating strategic intent, emerging technology, and team‑level experimentation into a prioritized portfolio of initiatives aligned to real IT workflows and measurable outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary IT‑side product lead for assigned AI for IT initiatives—balancing innovation with pragmatism, aligning outcomes to measurable efficiency and quality gains, and ensuring AI capabilities are embedded into real IT workflows.
  • Support the AI Innovation Lab by structuring and framing AI experiments, assisting with opportunity intake, problem definition, success criteria, and alignment to enterprise AI, security, and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engagement to accelerate responsible experimentation within the AI Lab.
  • Reinforce repeatable operating practices—including governance touchpoints, documentation standards, and knowledge sharing—to ensure insights extend beyond individual experiments.
  • Support Lab visibility and reporting and contribute to a cohesive AI innovation narrative.
  • Ensure learnings and validated concepts inform the broader AI for IT roadmap and portfolio.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • May be responsible for the performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
