Senior Technical Editor
About The Position
GDIT is seeking a Senior Technical Editor to support the Vertical Launch System (VLS) systems technical data documentation requirements for US Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS). This role involves providing technical editing support for the review and development of VLS technical procedures, processes, and manuals. These documents are published in Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM’s), MS Office applications, and Adobe PDFs. The position also requires gathering, processing, analyzing, reconciling, and entering VLS systems engineering data and fleet modernization data to support IETMs, Ship Alteration Systems, Temporary Alteration Records, Engineering Change Orders, Engineering Change Proposals, and Navy Training System Plans. Collaboration with team members for the development, production, and distribution of VLS documentation materials to GDIT and government customers is essential.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with technical personnel developing and publishing technical materials
- Experience developing and publishing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using SGML applications such as Arbortext or MadCap Flare
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Active Secret clearance required
- Must be a US Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in any field with 5+ years of professional experience in technical editing (additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree).
Nice To Haves
- Previous US Navy VLS background preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Provide technical editing support for the review and development of VLS technical procedures, processes, and manuals.
- Gather, process, analyze, reconcile and enter VLS systems engineering data and fleet modernization data in support of IETMs, Ship Alteration Systems, Temporary Alteration Records, Engineering Change Orders, Engineering Change Proposals and Navy Training System Plans.
