About The Position

The Senior Technical Designer is a solutions finder who combines creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and management responsibilities to produce functionally beautiful spaces across several projects of small scale or a few mid-to-large projects simultaneously. The Senior Technical Designer provides advanced technical knowledge, a background in architecture or design, and a portfolio of innovative design conceptual solutions that support the project team in the delivery of complex interior and architectural projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design or related field from an accredited university
  • Licensed professional or working towards licensure
  • 7+ years of experience in interior-design-related projects, with a strong background in hospitality projects, and experience designing multiple building typologies of varying scale
  • Proficiency in Revit with 7+ years of experience is required
  • Proficient technical expertise in MS Office, Adobe Suite, DesignSmart, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and other design tools
  • Advanced knowledge of design trends, construction techniques and methodology, material application, architectural building systems, building codes, building materials, specifications
  • Understanding of project work plans, staffing, schedules and budgets
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in managing a team and working across teams across multiple disciplines
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the overall design intent established by the designers is incorporated into the technical documentation, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed
  • Leads the team in planning the work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems throughout the phases of the project
  • Leads the development of interiors concepts based on the client’s vision and architectural concepts
  • Manages client expectations, team communications, and consultant coordination to meet the overall project objectives
  • Coordinates and oversees technical design assignments and the preparation of design details, to include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and construction documentation
  • Reviews the technical implementation document sets, including interior plans, fixture plans, elevations, and other section details
  • Generates project documents and schedules, manages the finances, and keeps the project on schedule
  • Delivers thorough sets of construction documents for projects
  • Works with clients, external consultants, and project team members in the production of detailed drawings for schematic design, design development, and construction
  • Communicates with the client to verify design requirements and specifications, specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation are on target
  • Ensures that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance and quality control and meets regulations and building codes
  • Participates in construction administration, evaluates bids, conducts site visits, field reviews and attends project meetings, addresses technical issues, and maintains the quality control of a project within established standards and regulations and building codes
  • Resolves project and technical issues and provides design support and documentation during the execution of design concepts
  • May lead proposal preparation process and participate in negotiation of scope and fees on contracts, and in marketing interviews
  • Incorporates integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
  • Fosters a green workplace through sustainable work practices
