Senior Technical Business Analyst

BizFlowWest Falls Church, VA
$80,000 - $130,000Hybrid

About The Position

BizFlow is hiring experienced Technical Business Analysts to help drive a large-scale enterprise modernization program. This is one of several analyst positions we are adding to the program team, alongside program management, project management, and engineering hires. If you are a strong facilitator who can hold the big picture and the process detail at the same time, own the requirements-to-acceptance thread on complex software implementations, and lead customers to clear decisions, we would like to hear from you. This is not an entry-level role. Hands-on software implementation experience is required. You have taken software solutions from requirements through UAT and go-live, and you know where implementations succeed and fail.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years hands-on software implementation experience, from requirements through UAT and go-live.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with a proven ability to lead a room and move stakeholders to decisions.
  • The ability to quickly grasp the big picture while deep-diving into process detail.
  • Requirements elicitation and documentation: leading interviews and workshops, writing user stories and use cases, and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Direct experience working with development and QA teams to clarify requirements, triage defects, and support testing and UAT.
  • Process modeling: creating As-Is / To-Be process flows and translating them into functional specifications.
  • Backlog management: refining and prioritizing items and maintaining traceability from business goals to delivered features.
  • Cross-functional stakeholder communication across business, product, QA, and operations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving strength: gap analysis, impact assessment, and solution evaluation.
  • Clear translation of business needs into technical requirements, and technical constraints back into business terms.
  • Acceptance testing support: defining test scenarios and validating outcomes against requirements.
  • Data fundamentals, including using Excel for data validation and requirement clarification.
  • Foundational business analysis training, such as coursework in requirements analysis, process modeling, or Agile BA fundamentals.
  • Working understanding of the SDLC (phases, deliverables, roles) and Agile fundamentals (Scrum ceremonies and artifacts, epics and user stories, acceptance criteria).
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications: CBAP or CCBA (IIBA), PMI-PBA, an Agile BA certification, or a Scrum certification (CSM / PSPO).
  • Technical fluency: a conceptual understanding of APIs, data models, and integration.
  • Automation or low-code experience with tools such as BizFlow AppDev, ServiceNow workflows, or other BPM suites.
  • Proficiency with documentation and collaboration tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, Jira, and diagramming tools like Visio.
  • Prototyping and wireframing with tools such as BizFlow AppDev, Pencil, or Balsamiq for UI/UX collaboration.
  • Advanced facilitation: design-thinking workshops, story mapping, and impact mapping.
  • Intermediate data skills, including familiarity with SQL and data mapping.
  • Change management experience: stakeholder adoption strategies, training plans, and communications.
  • Delivery in regulated or compliance-heavy environments, including accessibility standards such as Section 508.
  • Domain experience in HR, healthcare, public sector, or other complex operating environments.
  • Financial acumen: cost/benefit analysis, value scoring, and OKRs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the connective tissue between the customer and the delivery team: eliciting and documenting high-quality requirements, guiding customer stakeholders to the right decisions, translating business needs into buildable specifications, and leading User Acceptance Testing through to sign-off.
  • Work alongside the program manager and project manager, who own program governance and delivery execution, and a growing engineering team that builds the solution. Your lane is the requirements-to-acceptance thread that keeps everyone aligned.
  • Serve as the primary analyst on customer implementations within the modernization program, keeping the solution traceable from business goal to delivered feature.
  • Partner with engineers and QA to clarify requirements, triage defects, and support testing as the build progresses.
  • Feed clean, well-scoped requirements and acceptance results into the project manager’s schedule and the program manager’s governance, surfacing risks and dependencies early.
  • Lead interviews, workshops, and elicitation sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Write user stories, use cases, and functional specifications with well-formed acceptance criteria.
  • Build As-Is and To-Be process flows and translate them into specifications the engineering team can act on without guesswork.
  • Refine and prioritize the backlog and maintain traceability from business goals to delivered features.
  • Guide customer stakeholders across business, operations, product, and QA toward clear, timely decisions.
  • Translate ambiguity into structured options, and drive alignment where interests compete, through influence rather than authority.
  • Balance scope, value, risk, and constraints through negotiation, and build the trust that makes you the customer’s go-to voice on the solution.
  • Own acceptance testing end to end: define test scenarios from the requirements, prepare and guide customer testers, and validate outcomes against acceptance criteria.
  • Drive the resolution and re-test cycle through to formal sign-off.

Benefits

  • Partial telework flexibility
