About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist I, Pipeline to support world-building and environment art through scalable tools, workflows, and pipeline solutions. This role partners closely with artists, tech artists, and engineers to improve content creation, reduce technical friction, and help teams build high-quality environments efficiently in-engine.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in technical art, pipeline engineering, or a similar role in game development.
  • Shipped at least one major title in a relevant technical-art role.
  • Supported large-scale environment art content pipelines on shipped titles.
  • Strong Python scripting and tool development skills.
  • Expertise building validation, import/export, and publishing workflows.
  • Proficiency creating Unreal Engine editor utility widgets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of modern art pipelines and best practices, including proficiency with industry-standard 3D tools such as Maya and Houdini.
  • Solid understanding of environment art workflows, including modular construction, terrain, materials, vegetation, and optimization.
  • Strong working knowledge of Unreal Engine or a comparable real-time engine.
  • A team-oriented approach to your work, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and cross-disciplinary partnership.
  • Strong debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Driven towards creating artist-friendly tools and user interfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Perforce, build systems, Jenkins, and automated content checks.
  • Familiarity with Gaea and landscaping techniques/automation.
  • Experience writing tools for Substance 3D Designer.
  • Experience working through early development and R&D phases of a project.
  • Passion for playing a wide variety of video games.

Responsibilities

  • Build and support tools and workflows for world building and environment art production.
  • Partner with environment artists and world builders to identify pipeline gaps and improve day-to-day efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain import, export, validation, and publishing workflows for environment content.
  • Support large-scale environment creation, including terrain, vegetation, modular kits, materials, and world assembly.
  • Create automation that improves asset quality, naming consistency, data integrity, and performance compliance.
  • Troubleshoot content and pipeline issues related to performance, memory, rendering, and build stability.
  • Enable procedural and semi-procedural workflows using tools such as Houdini, Blueprint, PCG, or similar systems.
  • Collaborate with technical art and engineering partners to define sustainable pipeline standards and best practices.
  • Document workflows and provide hands-on support to help artists work effectively and independently.
