About The Position

Citi is looking for a Senior Technical Architect to lead the design and delivery of a greenfield enterprise platform serving Finance and FP&A functions — bringing the architectural vision, domain depth, and engineering leadership needed to build systems that directly shape how financial data flows across the organization. In this role, you will serve as the definitive technical authority for a complex, multi-stakeholder platform, translating Finance and FP&A business requirements into scalable, resilient architecture that operates at global scale. Requirements

• 10 or more years of software engineering experience, with a demonstrated career progression into technical architecture leadership on enterprise-scale platforms.
• Deep architectural expertise in distributed systems design, covering microservices patterns, event-driven architecture, API design, and large-scale data flows — applied to Finance or FP&A contexts.
• Hands-on experience delivering within Finance, FP&A, or financial management domains, with a clear understanding of financial planning cycles, management reporting, and data aggregation requirements.
• Strong command of Java and the Spring Framework — including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, and Spring Security — used to deliver mission-critical, high-availability systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and a modern DevOps approach encompassing CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Demonstrated ability to set technical vision, lead senior engineering teams, and take full accountability for platform delivery from architecture through to production.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.

Nice To Haves

• Experience integrating AI technologies, LLMs, or agentic frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex into enterprise Finance or data platforms.
• Background designing high-throughput, low-latency systems within financial services or similarly regulated, performance-critical environments.
• Familiarity with Python for scripting, data pipeline development, or AI and ML integration workstreams alongside a primary Java architecture role.
• Experience spanning both SQL and NoSQL database systems within a distributed Finance data architecture.
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end technical architecture for a greenfield Finance and FP&A platform, making authoritative decisions on system design, technology selection, and architectural standards that support long-term scalability and resilience.
• Translate Finance and FP&A domain requirements — including financial planning cycles, reporting workflows, and data aggregation needs — into well-structured, implementable technical solutions.
• Architect distributed, enterprise-scale systems using microservices patterns, event-driven design, and the Java and Spring ecosystem, with a focus on performance, availability, and data integrity.
• Design and deliver the integration of Agentic AI capabilities and Large Language Models (LLMs) into the platform, creating interfaces that connect AI-driven processes directly to Finance business logic.
• Set and enforce engineering standards across the delivery team, covering code quality, testing frameworks, security practices, and performance benchmarks to ensure consistent, production-ready output.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of senior engineers through architectural coaching, expert code reviews, and hands-on technical guidance at each stage of delivery.
• Identify and resolve architectural constraints in existing systems, converting technical improvements into measurable gains in performance, maintainability, and business capability.
