Senior Technical Advisor, Environmental Science - Upstream Oil and Gas
About The Position
WSP's RPM team is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor focusing on Upstream Oil and Gas sites to join their Remediation Program Management team based in Edmonton or Calgary. This role offers the opportunity to develop and implement innovative closure plans for contaminated sites, act as a technical lead, and mentor junior staff. The RPM team has been providing contaminated site program management services for over 15 years, consistently maintaining a 9 to 12-month backlog and offering growth opportunities. They specialize in health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment, and remediation, handling major Canadian projects across the country. The successful candidate will manage significant fieldwork efficiently and effectively, leveraging the team's strengths.
Requirements
- Post-secondary Degree in Environmental Sciences or related
- A minimum of twenty years experience in environmental consulting, specializing in Upstream Oil and Gas
- Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety conscious attitude
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the desire to work in a collaborative team
- Professional registration
- Subsoil Salinity Tool Certification
Responsibilities
- Developing plans to progress Upstream Oil and Gas sites to closure or developing risk management plans
- Reviewing reports prepared by others
- Engaging with stakeholders, including regulators
- Fostering the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted leader in site closure
- Mentoring junior staff in conducting environmental site assessment, remediation, and closure activities
