About The Position

Our client is seeking a part-time Interim Senior Technical Accountant to support its accounting and financial reporting team on a contract basis. This position is expected to average approximately 20 hours per week and is fully remote. The initial engagement is expected to last several months, with potential for extension due to ongoing technical accounting and special project needs. This role is ideal for a highly technical CPA who thrives in a large-company environment, enjoys solving complex accounting issues, and can work independently with minimal oversight.

Requirements

• CPA required (active license preferred; will look at inactive)
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong technical accounting expertise.
• Blend of public accounting and industry experience highly preferred.
• Experience working within large or complex organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and require limited supervision.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research.
• Experience with large ERP environments such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Data analysis and reconciliation functions.
• Strong systems aptitude and ability to work across multiple platforms.

Nice To Haves

• Healthcare industry experience is a strong plus.
• International accounting experience is a plus and may warrant consideration at a higher pay rate.
• Experience utilizing AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical accounting resource for accounting matters and special projects.
• Month-end close duties, including complex reconciliations.
• Assist with accounting analyses, potentially including: Revenue recognition, Equity accounting, Debt and equity classification, Lease accounting (ASC 842), Goodwill and intangible asset accounting, Other complex accounting matters as assigned.
• Prepare technical accounting memorandums and supporting documentation.
• Partner with accounting leadership on ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives.
• Support process improvement efforts and help strengthen accounting policies and procedures.
• Work independently to drive assigned projects to completion while managing multiple priorities.
• Provide support for ongoing accounting and reporting initiatives as the company continues to grow.
