Senior Tech Lead Manager

ProviderTrustNashville, TN

About The Position

ProviderTrust is seeking a Senior Tech Lead Manager to lead small, empowered product teams that own their area end to end. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for delivery, people management, setting technical standards, and influencing engineering practices. The role can expand to oversee multiple product teams over time. It requires a blend of technical expertise and people leadership experience.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team as a hands-on lead.
  • Ability to design cloud-native systems and solve high-impact problems.
  • Full-stack and cloud-native development delivering on AWS: containerization (Docker), serverless architectures, and orchestration (ECS/Kubernetes).
  • Cloud networking (VPCs, load balancers, API gateways), security (IAM roles, encryption), identifying bottlenecks in distributed systems, and performance/cost optimization.
  • Practical knowledge of event-driven architecture.
  • Strong at troubleshooting, profiling, insights, and dashboards.
  • Strong command of Java or C# and associated libraries optimized for cloud environments.
  • Cloud-native databases: SQL (Aurora/RDS), query performance, and document data stores (DynamoDB).
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, rolling/dark deploys, branching, and code pipelines.
  • ReactJS or another modern JavaScript front-end stack.
  • You have led a small engineering team as a hands-on lead and want both the technical and the people sides of the job.
  • You have developed engineers into more senior, higher-impact roles, and ideally developed other leads; you see growing people as core to the job.
  • You have raised the level of an existing team, not just maintained a strong one, and you know how to do it without grinding morale.
  • You work with product as an equal and have the judgment to challenge a roadmap, not just receive one.
  • You can tell process that protects the work from process that just slows it down, and you keep what matters while cutting the rest.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, compliance, or another regulated domain.
  • Experience on a platform or stream-aligned team model.

Responsibilities

  • Lead your team(s). Own one or more product teams of roughly four to five engineers each, their technical direction, and what they ship. Set a clear vision and the "why," and keep the loop closed on commitments.
  • Stay hands-on, to standard. Design, write, and review production code, and set the technical bar by doing the work alongside your team. Set and raise that standard across teams, not just your own, as a technical reference point others calibrate to.
  • Grow people. Run 1:1s that go somewhere, give feedback engineers can act on, and push each toward more scope. Develop senior and staff-track engineers, and mentor other team leads.
  • Own delivery. Your team or teams ship predictably, and you are accountable for it. Build high-quality, testable solutions without over-engineering.
  • Partner with product. Work with your product manager as an equal, deciding together what is worth building, and influence product and technical direction across your area.
  • Plan capacity. Partner with the Director on staffing, capacity, and allocation across the teams you touch, forecast capacity, and flag early when demand outstrips it.
  • Lead adaptively. Keep only the process that earns its place, cut ceremony that slows delivery, and adjust as the problem changes.
  • Lead in person. Be on-site with your team the expected days; lead by proximity.
  • Drive root cause. Resolve escalations by finding patterns and root-cause fixes, and lead the hardest technical problems.
