Senior Teaching Fellow
About The Position
Deakin University is seeking two Senior Teaching Fellows for its DMS Rural Communities Sites in the Hamilton-Portland & Colac-Camperdown Zones. These are fixed-term positions for 3 years, each at 0.2 FTE. The role involves assisting with the delivery of effective teaching practices within Deakin Medical School-Rural Communities, suggesting innovative teaching approaches, and applying industry, clinical, and/or research practices to student learning experiences. The position also requires collaboration with teaching teams to develop and refine curricula, clinical/professional education experiences, and learning resources, as well as contributing to the review and enhancement of units and courses. The role emphasizes learner-centric, research-informed teaching and incorporating the latest practice knowledge.
Requirements
- A PhD or equivalent qualification (such as Fellowship of a relevant College) in a relevant discipline.
- Be a medical graduate, registered with AHPRA.
- Hold the FRACGP or FACRRM, or be close to sitting the respective Fellowship examination.
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs with evidence of innovative and effective pedagogical approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum development and educational enhancement initiatives.
- Evidence of mentoring or supporting colleagues to improve teaching practices.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with professionals.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of effective teaching practices within Deakin Medical School-Rural Communities and suggest approaches to innovative teaching practices to achieve student learning experiences to support success and engagement.
- Teaching practices include; bedside tuition within the Portland/Hamilton or Colac/Camperdown regions, teaching at Face to Face meetings in Ballarat, Warrnambool and Geelong and delivering online sessions.
- Apply industry, clinical and/or research practice to student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
- Assist teaching teams and collaborate with other unit teaching teams within the course to develop and refine effective unit curricula, clinical/professional education experiences, and comprehensive learning resources.
- Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements to enhance educational outcomes.
- Assist with innovation, unit-level curriculum design in partnership with unit chairs, delivering learner-centric, research-informed teaching and incorporating the latest practice knowledge across all levels and modes.
