About The Position

JLL is seeking a Senior Tax Technology Associate for its Global Tax group. This role is tentatively based in Chicago, as part of the Americas Tax team, and reports to the Tax Technology Manager. The position involves designing and building customized solutions for recurring indirect tax compliance, including account reconciliation, standardized input and output processes for tax filings, and diagnostic/analytical reporting. The focus will be on sales tax and gross receipts tax, with additional responsibilities in personal property tax and business licenses. The role also includes maintaining and supporting the existing technology infrastructure, assisting with technology tools for US income tax compliance and global tax provision processes, and participating in internal tax and finance technology initiatives to improve current processes. Key responsibilities also include implementing and maintaining data automation workflows using tools like Alteryx, building and maintaining data pipelines between tax systems (Corptax, Alteryx, Databricks, SharePoint, custom applications), designing validation and reconciliation checks, establishing and documenting data lineage/processes, and developing agentic AI solutions for repetitive tasks. Additionally, the role involves developing and maintaining bespoke data applications to enhance productivity within the tax function.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm
  • Strong software & technology skills, with experience implementing, maintaining and using tools such as Alteryx, Microsoft Power platform, SQL, Python, Github, Claude/GPT, Typescript, Databricks.
  • Strong technical, communication and collaboration skills, including comfort interacting with leaders of internal stakeholder departments.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Take a lead role in designing and building a customized solution for recurring indirect tax compliance, including account reconciliation, standardized input and output processes for tax filings, and diagnostic/analytical reporting.
  • Focus on sales tax and gross receipts tax, with additional responsibilities in personal property tax and business licenses.
  • Maintain and support the existing technology infrastructure the team relies on.
  • Assist the Tax Technology Manager as needed with technology tools supporting the US income tax compliance process and global tax provision process.
  • Participate in internal tax and finance wide “Finance Technology” initiatives with the Americas and Global tax teams to identify pain points in current state processes and help lead continuous improvement initiatives to create best-in-class future state processes.
  • Implement and maintain data automation workflows which improve the efficiency of the group, using tools such as Alteryx.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that move information between tax systems (Corptax, Alteryx, Databricks, SharePoint, custom applications), ensuring source and destination data remain in sync (source to target).
  • Design validation and reconciliation checks that catch data discrepancies before they reach end users.
  • Establish and document data lineage/processes so users can trace a number back to its source system, supporting audit and access review requirements.
  • Develop agentic AI solutions for repetitive tasks.
  • Develop and maintain bespoke data applications to better enable productivity within the tax function.
