About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Tax Strategy Advisor to join our growing Tax Strategy team and support high-net-worth clients across the Southeast! As a Senior Tax Strategy Advisor, you'll work alongside a collaborative team of advisors and specialists to create sophisticated tax strategies for high-net-worth clients while serving as a trusted partner on some of the firm's most complex relationships. The Senior Tax Strategy Advisor provides advanced tax planning and advisory services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners with complex financial needs. This role develops and reviews sophisticated tax strategies, identifies planning opportunities, and reviews complex income tax returns while serving as a trusted resource to clients and internal teams. In partnership with advisors and planning specialists, you'll help deliver integrated, client-centered wealth management solutions that create meaningful long-term value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited college or university (required)
  • Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation (required)
  • Certified Financial Planner™ certification or Personal Financial Specialist (PFSTM) credential (required within 1 year of employment)
  • 10+ years of experience in comprehensive tax and financial planning, including work with high-net-worth clients
  • Proven client-facing experience in tax planning and advisory roles
  • Experience with tax planning software (BNA, Planner CS, Holistiplan)
  • Familiarity with online and print tax research resources
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in Taxation a plus
  • Familiarity with Thomson Reuters UltraTax, GoFileRoom, and Practice CS a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement proactive tax planning strategies for high-net-worth clients and business owners, aligning recommendations with overall financial goals. (Typically, clients with AUM of $10M+)
  • Review tax planning strategies and estimates, providing actionable insights for complex client scenarios.
  • Research and analyze complex tax transactions and topics, communicating findings and recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Manage assigned client relationships, tax projects, and workflow during tax season, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Provide subject-matter tax expertise to clients, advisors, and firm leadership to support integrated wealth management solutions.
  • Review and signing of complex individual, trust, partnership, foundation and corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance, as required.
  • Responsible for coordination, review and delivery of multi-family, multi-tax return groups (i.e., parents, children, trusts, and other entities) and ensuring a concierge experience for our highest net worth clients.
  • Deliver finalized tax return packages to clients, as needed.
  • Analyze IRS and state notices, preparing or reviewing responses as needed.
  • Work directly with taxing authorities on resolving client tax issues.
  • Contribute to the review and enhancement of internal policies and procedures for a fully integrated tax strategy practice.
  • Provide subject matter for educational and promotional materials, such as presentations, articles, and marketing content.
  • Present tax concepts to advisors, clients, prospects, and centers of influence (COIs) at events and workshops.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for tax and planning team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Assist in training and developing staff through hands-on guidance and interactive team engagement.
  • Offer feedback on training programs for new tax team members and advisors.
  • Maintain a team-first mindset by assisting colleagues and stepping in when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support client service and firm objectives.
