About The Position

This role is responsible for reviewing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns, developing and supervising staff, preparing more complex tax returns, and managing client relationships. The position requires a proactive approach to client interaction, problem-solving, and business development. The Senior Tax Preparer will also be responsible for staying current with tax law changes and assisting clients with tax authority communications and audits.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Strong accounting, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required.
  • Experience preparing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-4 years’ experience in public accounting tax experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax returns prepared by Staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities.
  • Prepare more complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
  • Lead, manage and complete entire Tax and Consulting engagements (planning, executing, directing, delegating tasks, and completing tax projects).
  • Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, identify, and resolve tax-related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
  • Assist Partners on proposals and business development calls; actively promote expanding services; continually improve client relationships.
  • Possess an understanding of state and foreign tax issues.
  • Complete research projects in order to reach a technical conclusion.
  • Monitor and respond to tax authority communications; assist clients with tax audits and other needs.
  • Use the appropriate accounting software or system to prepare tax returns.
  • Maintain understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law and regulations by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.
  • Participate in civic and/or networking events.
  • Determine own personal career path; Facilitate staff & team development.
  • Supervise, train and mentor entry level Staff on tax projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
