About The Position

The Tax Manager at Level Group is responsible for overseeing the firm’s tax strategy across all clients, providing expert guidance to Account Managers on complex tax issues and client communications. This role ensures accurate and timely tax filings by managing the end-to-end process, including review of financial statements and coordination with external CPA partners. The Tax Manager position is also responsible for developing tax expertise within the firm and maintaining high standards of quality assurance across all tax work. This position is a full-time, overtime exempt position and requires candidates to be onsite at our Nashville office location from the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm CST. This position will be considered for hybrid (WFH) following a 90-day period.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Tax Law or a related field
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Minimum 2 years in a management role, with a proven record of supervising and training.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ work experience in public accounting or business management with extensive experience preparing tax returns for individuals, and experience with corporations, partnerships and individuals as well.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to facilitate internal and external communication, lead meetings, and provide clear updates to both teams and senior leadership on key metrics and progress.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong background in financial oversight, tax planning, individual tax filing, auditing, and small business management. Exceptional skills reviewing 1040s and 1040-NRs, and familiarity with 1120’s, 1120-S, and 1065’s.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, project management tools, Office 365, and other relevant technologies, as well as the ability to identify and implement technology solutions to streamline processes.
  • Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, and foster a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Oversee Tax Strategy for all Corporate and Individual Clients
  • Provide strategic tax guidance to Account Managers and develop their tax filing knowledge.
  • Offer expert advice on complex tax matters for high-earning individuals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance for all clients.
  • Oversee all Corporate and Individual Tax Filings
  • Manage the end-to-end tax filing process for both corporate entities and individual clients.
  • Review and audit financial statements to ensure correctness.
  • Monitor and track the status of tax preparation and filings to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between external CPA partners and internal teams.
  • Manage Tax Notice Resolution Process
  • Analyze tax notices and take appropriate actions for timely and effective resolutions.
  • Communicate directly with tax authorities via written correspondence or phone.
  • Partner with other Tax Managers to meet Tax Department Deliverables and Operational Excellence
  • Ensure the highest level of quality across all departmental work
  • Review and file client 1099 and 1042-S forms.
  • Administrate annual tax training.
  • Communicate key tax deadlines, updates to policy and procedures.
  • Manage team performance & development
  • Identify training needs and resources for individual and team development.
  • Leverage team members' strengths and provide opportunities for growth.
  • Provide consistent feedback and prepare an annual performance evaluation.
  • Manage projects and continuously improve tax processes
  • Handle ad hoc projects as required by new business or regulatory needs.
