About The Position

The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for reviewing and/or preparing supporting workpaper calculations for U.S. Federal and state income tax returns. This role involves managing and developing direct reports, mentoring other tax department professionals, and coordinating return preparation with external tax preparers. The position also includes managing and reviewing quarterly tax payments, providing cash-tax modeling to the executive team, and assisting with quarterly and annual tax provision reporting. Key responsibilities also include reviewing and analyzing books to tax differences, communicating with business unit personnel, assisting with various tax projects, and researching and communicating technical tax topics to executives. The role also focuses on developing and implementing new processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in tax at a large public accounting firm and/or a large, U.S. multi-national company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Experience managing and developing other tax professionals required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Energetic and self-motivated team player.
  • Ability to engage in critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving.
  • Must be detail-oriented, proactive, responsive and resourceful.
  • Highly flexible and motivated individual with an ability to work in a team setting as well as independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact well with their direct manager as well as all levels within the organization, industry and community.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Applicants must be based in Denver or Atlanta or willing to relocate to Denver or Atlanta to work from the Denver or Atlanta office a minimum of three days a week.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in accounting/tax preferred.
  • CPA license is preferred.
  • Experience using tax reporting software (CorpTax, OneSource, Longview, etc.) and Oracle/HFM strongly preferred.
  • Alteryx and Ai experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and/or prepare supporting workpaper calculations for U.S. Federal and state income tax returns.
  • Manage and develop 1-2 direct reports, and mentor other tax department professionals.
  • Manage and coordinate return preparation with external tax preparers.
  • Manage and review quarterly tax payments and provide cash-tax modeling to the executive team.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision reporting, including reviewing and/or preparing calculations and technical documentation of provision calculations for assigned U.S. entities.
  • Review and analyze all books to tax differences for assigned U.S. entities and reconcile the differences between provision and return.
  • Communicate with business unit personnel and leaders to obtain information necessary to prepare US tax filings.
  • Assist with other tax projects including but not limited to tax basis in subsidiaries, tax account reconciliation, utilization of tax credits and NOL’s and preparing responses to federal and state audit inquiries.
  • Research and communicate to executives on technical tax topics as needed.
  • Develop, recommend and implement new processes and procedures.
