About The Position

A well-established local CPA practice in the Westlake Village area provides tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to individuals and businesses. Backed by a network of CPA firms, it combines the resources and stability of a larger organization with the close client relationships and collaborative culture of a boutique firm. The practice is investing in modern tools, including practice management platforms and AI-enabled tax technology, and is building the next generation of firm leaders.

The Senior Tax Manager will provide day-to-day leadership of the tax practice, serve as a senior and final reviewer on individual and business tax returns, and gradually take on a greater share of client relationships. The role offers a defined path to partnership and is intended for a technically strong CPA who enjoys mentoring, builds client trust, and wants to help lead and grow the practice.

Requirements

• Active CPA license.
• At least 10 years of public accounting tax experience.
• Strong senior review experience across individual and business returns.
• Proven experience leading and developing a tax team.
• Track record of owning and growing client relationships.
• Comfort with technology, including practice management platforms such as Karbon and AI-enabled tax tools.
• Ambition to move into partnership.

• Lacerte experience.
• Midsize or regional CPA firm background.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership of the tax practice, including workflow, deadlines, and quality control.
• Perform senior and final review of individual and business tax returns.
• Own and grow a book of client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor on compliance and planning.
• Lead proactive tax-planning conversations with individual and business clients.
• Lead, mentor, and develop managers, seniors, and staff.
• Partner with firm leadership on practice growth, process improvement, and technology adoption.
• Research complex tax issues and develop well-supported recommendations.
• Take on increasing firm leadership responsibilities on a defined path to partner.
